Chinese New Year Celebrations at Rockwell College

Transition Year students at Rockwell College, a renowned boarding school in Ireland, marked Chinese New Year this week with a series of engaging cultural activities. Known as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year celebrates the start of the traditional lunisolar calendar, symbolising renewal, the end of winter, and the beginning of spring.

Students immersed themselves in Chinese culture by:

  • Practicing Chinese calligraphy.
  • Decorating their classroom with traditional designs.
  • Learning about the festival’s cultural and historical significance.

A highlight of the day was a special New Year’s lunch, featuring authentic Chinese dishes. Prepared by Catering Manager Damien Holohan and his team, the meal added a unique and memorable touch to the celebrations.
