Well done to Tiernan Power, who is a Transition Year student in Rockwell College and was recently awarded with an all-expenses paid trip to meet M.E.P. Sean Kelly in the European Parliament in Brussels. Tiernan was selected as one of 20 students nationwide to partake in an agenda which includes meetings and tours in the European Parliament as well as the European Commission.

Tiernan had been informed of the competition regarding the ‘Meet Your MEP Programme’ by his teacher, Mr. Kevin Condon, and decided to participate in this. The competition required Tiernan to construct a 500 word essay upon gender equality. The title of the essay was ‘How will life be different if/when we achieve gender equality’.

The top 20 students from all over Ireland were selected for this trip which will take place between the 19th and 21st of November and it gives Tiernan a great opportunity to represent himself and the school upon the European stage.
