The Parents’ Association and its Committee is an important part of the community at Rockwell College. The committee has two representatives of parents with children in each of the six school years and we nominate a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer on an annual basis. The role of the committee is to promote and initiate activities which advance the aims and objective of the College. We are a forum through which parents’ voice can be heard and their support channelled. We provide a parent’s perspective on policies and initiatives adopted by Rockwell College and in turn look to communicate with parents about issues which should be brought to their attention regarding the education and wellbeing of their children. The Committee meets for an hour or so once a month during term time.
Over the last number of years we have facilitated talks to parents on internet safety, addiction, and curriculum changes, among other topics. We organised the Gala Dinner in 2018 and are always keen to support the school in raising funds and support more broadly for specific projects.
The committee can only be effective if parents get involved. I would encourage you to attend the AGM in September/October. Join up if you feel you can but do feel free to contact any member of the committee if there is an issue you would like to see raised, or support you would like to provide in developing new initiatives at the school.
Thanks you for your support and I look forward to meeting you at events.
